Playful Plaid

I scored the most amazing skirt a couple of weeks ago at Talbot's. <Side Bar> If you aren't a regular Talbot's shopper, the best times to shop are a couple of weeks after Christmas and at the end of summer. Everything is pretty much free, and you can grab the most amazing deals on current & previous season merchandise. Now, back to the skirt. I totally peeped it out at the end of November when it came out in the holiday catalogue. What you don't see from my pic is that it has 2 side pockets with faux leather trim and a faux leather waistband. As soon as I saw it, I knew I had to have it. Thankfully after a little stalking, I located one in my size at the Peachtree Battle store.

Photo from Talbot's Pinterest

Originally retailing for $99 bucks, I grabbed it for $35.99 with and extra 5% off for using my Talbot's Black Card making it a total #StyleSteal. I decided to pair my skirt with a tuxedo shirt that I got last year from Talbot's, Banana Republic v-neck sweater,  Iman Global Chic cape coat,  hat & gloves, Chico's necklace (no longer available)
and Shoe Dazzle Claudine plaid shoes! Coincidentally, the shoes were almost an exact match to the plaid in my skirt.

I love shopping at Talbot's for wardrobe staples. Their pieces are timeless and the quality is impeccable. I encourage you to step out of your fashion box and venture into places you normally wouldn't shop, you will be surprised at what you can find.

Beauty Byte: Iman Cosmetics

Happy Tuesday! How is your week going so far? I am doing great and feeling fabulous. It's been a while since I have done a Beauty Byte,  so I wanted to share with all of you one of my new favorite things. Last summer, while attending a press preview in NYC, I peeped out a fab lip palette by IMAN Cosmetics. At first glance it looked like a tray of glosses that wouldn't really pack a punch. I mean seriously, it retailed for $5 bucks, how great could it really be? Boy was I wrong! When I applied this unassuming quint of colors they went on so bold, I was literally blown away!

Now, let's fast forward to a few weeks ago. DOOBOP.com, a fabulous online beauty site that specializes in products for all ethnicities, announced that they would be carrying the full size lipsticks from the palette. Of course I was all over it and had to order all 5. I can honestly tell you, this is quite shocking for me, because I'm not typically a lipstick girl. I'm usually hands down all about a nice sheer gloss, and the occasional pop of pink or red, but never really liked lipstick. It usually falls flat for me by being too dry or wearing off easily. All I can tell you is that IMAN Cosmetics lipsticks have totally converted me.

The shades are so color rich and intense, you can literally wear them all day with out having to reapply. I know you're probably thinking that you are going to have that gross, weird lip thing that happens just inside of you mouth when your lipstick is on too long, but it doesn't. The lipstick glides on super creamy and stays moisture rich all day long. They are so highly pigmented that they almost stain your lips with whatever shade you are wearing when you take them off. My favorite shade hands down is the bold red called Scandalous, but I also love playing with the pink shades called Kinky Pink & Flirtatious. I can't wait to rock the Hot orange this summer and I am still on the fence about the purple shade called Taboo!

Clockwise from top left:  Flirtatious, Kinky Pinky, Scandalous, Taboo & Hot
The lipsticks retail for $10 each and at that price point are definitely some #BudgetBeauty goodness! You can score these and other fabulous shades at www.imancosmetics.com or www.doobop.com I highly encourage you to give them a try. Also, be sure to download the new IMAN Cosmetics app for a fun, interactive experience where you can upload your picture and find your perfect foundation shade! Until next time, Make the world your personal runway!

#POC (Pop of Color)

Hey Guys! How's it going? Sorry for the radio silence, but I have been trying to adjust to a new daily routine. If you have been following me on Instagram, you already know that Monday a week ago, I started a 90 day wellness challenge. I will give you more deets on that later, but today I had to share my #ootd.

Today the weather turned totally cold again, so I had to take advantage of it. I recently scored a fab houndstooth jacket from Talbot's outlet and have been dying to wear it. Overall, I kept this look pretty simple, but accented it with some fun pops of color. I paired my new jacket with an Old Navy turtleneck and my ASOS Curve leather skater skirt. To give my ensemble a pop, I added my Cayetano Legacy Necklace, Iman Platnium hat and gloves, #repeatoffender Alter Ego Clutch from Twelve 24 Boutique and Target shoes from last year.

Having Mary Tyler Moore moment!

So, what do you think? This look was so much fun and really made me feel #fab. When in doubt, just keep it simple and add a little #POC!

Thursday 3-Way: Lane Bryant Peplum

Happy Thursday! I hope you are having a fabulous day. I really struggled with this post as to whether I should make it a #RepeatOffender or a Thursday 3-way. I guess it will be a little of both because I have totally abused this Lane Bryant sequin bustier peplum in less than a month. I have actually worn this top more than 3 ways, but 2 of them are similar so I count them as one.

The first time I rocked this top was a few weeks back. I decided to wear my peplum over a sleeves white blouse from Talbot's and gold Lane Bryant french terry pants. Similarly the following week, I rocked the same peplum with a long sleeved blouse from Talbot's, leather ASOS skirt and Chico's jacket.

Because I clearly couldn't get enough of this top last month, the following week I wanted to wear it again! Because I had worn it twice with a white shirt and my Chico's jacket, I decided to "pep up" (pun intended) Twelve 24 Boutique faux leather dress. By topping the dress with my peplum top and Iman faux fur vest and adding my Kate Spade x Keds sneakers, I created a fun look without being too fussy!

Today I decided to create a double peplum effect by pairing my top with my Twelve 24 boutique faux leather jacket.  I flipped the jacket around so that it zipped up the back and created the illusion of a mock neck faux leather top. To round out the look, I added my gold french terry pants and black lace #StyleSteal Nine West pumps from Ross.

As you can see, I have thoroughly enjoyed this peplum. If you haven't checked out the new look of Lane Bryant, you are definitely missing out. Be sure to follow them on Facebook for all of the latest looks and for some great discount codes!  Which of my looks is your fave?

#ParkerStyle Remix: NeShanta meets Parker

Hey Guys! I know it's been a while since I hit you with a #ParkerStyle Remix, so let's get started. A couple of years ago, I had the pleasure of meeting style maven NeShanta Smith-Davis, better known as Style Is She. As a fellow blogger and stylist, one thing that she does impeccably is layering. Her uncanny ability to mix colors, patterns and textures together really is amazing and very inspiring. I typically only give one look a #ParkerStyle Remix, but in NeShanta's case, there were so many looks that I loved, I combined several into one.

Now that you see all of the fabulous inspiration I had, I hope I do this remix justice. To embody NeShanta's overall "Layered" theme, I brought out some old and new favorites. For my look, I decided to pair my Iman Platinum faux fur vest with a chambray shirt from JCP, cream Banana Republic sweater and my ASOS leather skirt. To round out my look, I accessorized with vintage Michael Kors sandals, super opaque tights from Lane Bryant, Brighton Collectibles stack rings & iPad case, Jawbone Up band (coming to the blog later this week), Banana Republic necklace, Tom Ford sunnies & a #fab full fedora from the men's section at Belk.

peep my elbow patches! ;)
So, what do you think? Although I didn't directly duplicate a single look, I think I pretty much nailed her overall style.  I neglected to mention that NeShanta has a fabulous online thrift store, so be sure to check it out at www.styleissheonline.com. Until next time, Make the world your personal runway!

SWAK Basics

Happy New Year! I'm so glad to be kicking off another year of fab fashion with you guys. A couple of weeks before Christmas, I received some amazing goodies from Sealed With a Kiss, better known as SWAK. I'm super excited to be apart of their blogger initiative along with several other fabulous ladies.  If you have been reading my blog for a while, you know that this is not my first time at the dance as far as SWAK is concerned. I was first introduced to this amazing, American brand at #FFFWeek 2012.  A couple of months after that I rocked the runway during Curves Fashion Week in their fabulous Eternity convertible dress.

Now let's fast forward to last month. Those of you who follow me on Instagram, already know that the jeans and cami I received from SWAK are already headed to #RepeatOffender status! First off, the jeans are #amazing. SWAK Denim launched a few months back. I have had the privilege of styling several of my Twelve 24 Boutique clients in them, as they are one of the few boutiques in Georgia that carry them. Unfortunately, I had yet to experience them for myself. I have more than made up of for lost time over the last couple of weeks. Being a cotton/poly/spandex blend, these jeans are a curvy girls best friend. The have the perfect amount of stretch which is super comfy, but they also maintain their shape well and don't become baggy. They are definitely one of the few pair of jeans that are in constant rotation in my fashion arsenal.

Twelve 24 Boutique model Nedra Phillips was the first to rock SWAK Denim

The Pretty cami, on the other hand, is by far one of my faves. I was so elated they sent me a new one because all of mine are completely dead. This is one top that I guarantee you will live in. It's flowy silhouette is super flattering and forgiving. If you ate a little too much and you have a muffin top that has reared it's ugly head, no problem! If you order a size up than your usual in this, it makes a sassy little sleep number or something to lounge around the house in.

Photo bombed by my assistant Brooke :)

Finally, my Kayla body-con dress is just the perfect thing for a casual Saturday. While visiting my granny just before Christmas, it kept me comfy yet polished. Every woman should at least own one body-con dress. They can be dressed down as I rocked it or office ready by adding a blazer and some pumps.

In case you haven't noticed, when you rock SWAK you don't have to sacrifice comfort for style. With a generous size range from 0x-6x, there is something for all of my curvy sisters. If you're in Atlanta, pop in to Twelve 24 Boutique to check out a variety of SWAK pieces or visit www.SWAKDesigns.com to view the complete collection. Who knows, your closet just might end up Sealed With a Kiss!

See you on the front row!!!

PS- Special thank you to SWAK Designs for the fabulous pieces!
