The Pope Effect

Tonight is finally the night! Scandal is back on and I can't wait. I was so excited about seeing what amazing ensembles Kerry Washington's character Olivia Pope would be dawning that I felt inspired to create my own look. If you are a Scandal fanatic, then you remember the iconic fashion moments when Olivia wore the white "gladiator" hat and of course when she slayed in the white Burberry cape coat. I drew my inspiration from those two looks and decided to put a dark spin on it.

To create my Olivia inspired look, I decided to go all black. I wore all faux leather with the exception of my Iman Global Chic Capelet. My faux leather wide leg pants & faux leather peplum jacket worn as a turtleneck were gifted from my friends over at Twelve 24 Boutique. The sleeveless faux leather peplum top was courtesy of Ashley Stewart & I created another level of peplum dimension by adding my ASOS peplum belt. If you have been reading for a while you know I am in constant conflict with my LHF, (low hanging fat). By creating the illusion of a a multi-layer peplum top, I not only took attention away front the area, but created a flattering silhouette.

Of course the devil is in the details and this outfit wouldn't be nearly as interesting if it weren't for my black and white Just Fab accessories. Overall I am super pleased with how my Olivia Pope inspired look turned out. What do you think? Did I nail Olivia's style or do I need to go back to the drawing board? Let me know what you think in the comments below!

My Peter Pilotto Style

As you all know, Peter Pilotto is the latest designer to collaborate with Target. Although non of the pieces officially came in plus sizes, I still ordered a couple of pieces online to put on my wall as inspiration. I can't wear the dress yet, but the long sleeved tee fit just fine and was the center piece of my outfit this past Sunday. If you follow me on Instragram then you have already seen this look, but for those of you who are new, here are all of the outfit deets!

I paired this printed perfection with my leather ASOS skater skirt. Because I really wanted the outfit to stand out both literally and metaphorically, I added my custom Lavender's Jungle tutu underneath it to give it some volume. Additionally, I added my black/gold plate belt from ASOS and a pop of color with my Cayetano Legacy necklace. To round out the look, I rocked my brand new Just Fab Jerilyne pumps with my Target clutch!

Although I love Peter Pilotto's vision of mixing patterns, sometimes it's just fun to keep things simple. I hope you enjoyed this #ootd post and found this look inspiring. Make the world your personal runway!

See you on the front row!

Offering affordable intimates for today's modern & sophisticated woman, Ambrielle is designed to leave every woman looking and feeling their best. Last week, my friends over at JC Penney sent me over a few pieces of sleepwear to try out from the new line.

I have to be 100% honest, I'm typically not a pajama kind of girl so I didn't really know how this was going to go. All I can say is WOW!! My sleep top and pants were amazing! The material is super soft and cool. It's lightweight, and offers great stretch, so if you want to curl up in your fave chair or cop a squat on the bed, you will feel extremely comfortable.

In addition to offering great sleepwear with their relaunch, Ambrielle can also help you solve all of your bra-blems, too. Whether you have that annoying back fat or straps that dig, their bras are sure to make your bra-blems disappear. I have not tried the new bras yet, but if they are anything like the previous ones, I know I won't be disappointed.

Two Way Tuesday: BOOM

Hey Guys! The subject of today's Two-Way Tuesday is my Phillip Lim for Target Boom Scarf. I have worn it a couple of times now. Most recently I showed you my Coachella Chic look in my SWAK Designs post this past Friday. This look embodied a fun loving, bohemian vibe that was fun for summer and very So-Cal.

Instead of re-styling it on myself, I actually am going to show you how my mom re-created this look. As you already know, my mom has impeccable style. Because both our styles are so versatile, we often have the same items in our closet. I style it appropriate for my 32 year old self and she makes it age appropriate for a 61 year old. She is truly a living testament that no matter what age you are you can always look fab.

To recreate my look, my mom paired dark denim Hue jeggings with a yellow Talbot's shirt & a Chico's red sweater to put a more conservative spin on my boho-chic look. She also pulled out her red Toms shoes and tied her scarf to the back instead of the side.

Doesn't she look fab? As you can see whether you're 32 or 61, you can still rock a trendy look and be age appropriate. I hope you enjoyed today's post and it encourages you to embrace style at every age and fashion at every size!

See you on the front row!

Colgate Optic White

I don't know about you, but I am always on a quest for whiter teeth. Strips take too long and professional whitening is too expensive, so what's a girl to do? Thankfully my friends at Influenster have come to the rescue with an innovative new product from Colgate.

They sent me over the new Optic White Tooth Brush with built in whitening pen. You brush your teeth as usual (preferably with Colgate Optic White),  apply the whitening gel and store it back inside your tooth brush! How easy is that?!?! I'll be giving this toothbrush a spin for the next 3 months but I'll give you progress reports along the way.

For more info visit www.colgateopticwhite.com ! Happy Whitening!

Beauty Byte: Eylure Lashes

Happy Monday! How was your weekend? I had a blast this weekend and will tell you all about it a little later. One of the highlights was discovering some new eyelashes. I am a self professed lash junky and always have them on hand. If I'm wearing makeup, I'm wearing lashes. Even if I'm not wearing makeup, I'm sometimes wear lashes. They give you that little extra pop that keeps things interesting.

Back to the lashes... I have been really wanting to try mink eyelashes, but can't wrap my mind around paying upwards of $40 dollars for a single set. Thankfully while browsing at K-Mart, I stumbled upon Eylure Naturalites lashes. Of course they aren't mink, but the look of the Double Lashes #202 had a similar appearance to the Flutter Lashes I have been coveting and they were only $5 bucks.

Because I still had some left over loot from the K-Mart gift card I won last summer, I bought 2 sets of 2 different styles. I wore the Double Lashes #202 yesterday and was so impressed. They applied super easy and the look was out of this world.  The quality of the strip was AMAZING!! I mean, they really amped my lash game up about 10 notches. I had never heard of Eylure before, so I immediately went online to find out more info.

Eylure is actually the top false lash brand in the UK. Unfortuanately it doesn't appear that they ship to the US yet, but they are retailed in several stores here. In addition to strip lashes they also offer individual lashes and a fabulous collection of press on nails and nail wraps through their Elegant Touch Nails sister company

To view styles and to find your perfect lash, visit www.eylure.com.

Friday 5-Way w/ SWAK Designs

Happy Friday! I am so ready for the weekend. The weather has been such a roller coaster here in Georgia, that you really don't know how to dress. It was snowing last week and 74 degrees yesterday. Even though it's not spring, I decided to take advantage of the weather and give you a little spring inspiration with a Friday 5-Way.

Last week, my friends over at SWAK Designs sent me over a new Pretty cami in a fabulous spring color called Sweet Lemon. You guys already know that I have an unhealthy fixation with the Pretty cami and can't get enough of them. It truly is one of the most versatile tops I own and I at least wear one twice a week. For today's post, I am going to give you a work ready look, a SaturDate look, a couple of looks with jeans and an intimate look. With that being said, let's get started.

Ready for Work:

Because it was unseasonably warm yesterday, I paired my new Pretty cami with last year's Old Navy striped bodycon skirt and my fave Eloquii green jacket. To give the flowy top a little structure, I added a skinny black belt from Lane Bryant and finished things off with my Just Fab Luxe Fairfield pumps. This look is also one that you can wear out for a play look by removing the jacket and amping up your hair and makeup.

SaturDate:

There's nothing I love more than a flirty skirt for a day date. It's such an easy,  effortless look that is put together without doing too much. I paired my Pretty cami with a Duro Olowu for JCP skirt that I scored last year, my #stylesteal Wal-Mart denim jacket, K-Mart sandals and again created a more structured look by belting the cami with another Lane Bryant belt. To round out the look, I added a tote from Henri Bendel and a Banana Republic statement necklace. Whether you're going to the museum with your guy or grabbing a quick lunch with the girls, this look is super chic!

Coachella Chic:

Although I won't be able to make it to Coachella this year, that doesn't mean I can't rock a festival ready ensemble. For this look, I paired my Pretty cami with rolled up SWAK jeans. I decided to let the top flow free for an easy, breezy effect.  To keep with the So-Cal vibe, I added my Phillip Lim for Target "BOOM" scarf and my red TOMS.

Lasting Layers:

I know you're probably thinking you can't layer with the Pretty cami because it has so much volume, but you couldn't be more wrong. As you already know, I have a little problem area that I like to call LHF (low hanging fat). Because of this LHF, I usually stay away from super fitted tops if I am wearing pants or jeans. For this look, I used my Pretty cami to layer under my #SELFIE sweater from Target. It created almost a peplum effect and perfectly covered my LHF in my SWAK jeans. I decided to roll the cuff a little lower and added my polka-dot TOMS to finish up the look. This look would be great for running errands but is still put together enough that you could still have a casual meeting with a client.

Pretty Intimate:

I'm a little nervous about this last segment. My love for the Pretty cami knows no bounds. I literally take it from day to play, in every since of the word. Because the Pretty cami is so universally flattering, it makes an amazing lingerie item. If your "girls" aren't quite as perky as they need to be, the Pretty's billowy folds keep that little secret under wraps. If wearing as a lingerie item, I like to order a size up in the cami, so you can create a dramatic back dip that's super sexy and will drive your guy insane!

So, there you have it! One SWAK Pretty cami, styled 5 different ways. Which one is your favorite look? If you don't own one, head on over to www.swakdesigns.com. The Pretty cami is popular and they sell out super fast. I recommend grabbing a couple of basic colors like black and white and for sure my amazing Sweet Lemon and Bright Coral from the spring collection. Trust me, you won't be disappointed. Until next time, Find your SWAK Style and I'll see you on the front row!
