Thursday night I had the privilege of attending a private party hosted by Gwen Devoe. A select few individuals were chosen to celebrate the self proclaimed Mogul Diva and her last hurrah w/ FFFWeek. For the past couple of months we have all been speculating as to why she would end such an amazing event. Is she sick? Is she dying? Will she be selling the franchise? So many rumors have been circulating and Thursday she cleared the air and put all of those rumors to rest.
Whether you follow her on social media or know her personally, you can ascertain that Gwen is a perfectionist. She wants to produce a quality event that celebrates, inspires and encourages full figured women all over the world to embrace their curves and hold their heads high. When we attend FFFWeek, we see the product of hundreds of man hours of work and thousands of dollars from brands and fundraising. To us as attendees, this is a week of fun to network and view the latest trends in plus size fashion, but to Gwen and her team this is a business.
When any business doesn't perform as anticipated the head has to reevaluate and readjust. Ultimately Gwen decided to stop producing FFFWeek. This decision was not made lightly. Rather than to digress and produce a substandard show, Gwen has decided to end things on top. Just because Devoe Signature Events will not be producing FFFWeek, that doesn't mean that the movement will end. Whether she decides to sell the franchise or begin to produce it again, trust and believe Gwen Devoe is here to stay. This is not the end of the story, but the beginning of a new chapter for Gwen, and I can't wait to see where she ends up.
