Iman x HSN

As a plus sized woman, one thing I know unequivocally is that all fashion is not created equally. You may remember when I shared my opinions openly to Target a few weeks back to voice my disappointment about the lack of a plus size items in one of their latest designer collaborations, well I'm not one to beat a dead horse to death, so I moved on to explore brands that offer "Fashion Democracy".

Nearly six years ago, world renowned supermodel & style icon Iman Abdulmajid, launched her Global Chic collection on HSN.  Originally a collection of artfully curated, inspired accessories, Iman stated in the original press release that, "It is important to know fashionable accessory trends, but it is more important to know how to properly incorporate them into your world and your lifestyle. You are never fully dressed without them." I couldn't agree more with that statement. Accessories can completely transform your look, as I have shown you in my Two-Way Tuesday & Thursday Three-Way posts. You can easily take your look for day to play by doing the accessory switch-up.

Global Chic City Tote, Anniversary Ring and Gold Ribbed Cuff, all from the Inaugural Global Chic Collection

Now let's fast forward to this summer. Over the years, the Global Chic collection has expanded to carry not only fabulous accessories but also amazing clothes and very chic luggage. Although I was always a lover of the Global Chic brand, I never actually purchased anything until one fateful day back in May. I fell in love with the Summer Crush Convertible Jumpsuit! Of course when it came down to the color choices, I chose the leopard. Like I told you in my Style Me Friday post, leopard is a neutral and will pretty much work with any color. This jumpsuit took me all throughout the summer and I definitely will be winterizing it during the holidays.

Now, let's jump to present day. Because we have truly been having fall weather here in Atlanta,  I have really been able to step up my outerwear game. Over the past couple of weeks, I have dawned 3 fabulous & different looks thanks to Iman. I totally shut the game down in my cognac colored Iman Platinum Rock The Runway leather coat with matching bag. I must admit, I totally owned this look ;)! The leather is very soft and supple and the construction of both the bag and the coat rival that of my high end designer pieces.

If you follow me on Instagram then you've seen me rock 2 other fab pieces from the Iman Platinum/Global Chic collections. My faux fur vest is fast becoming one of my new faves and the black capelet I rocked on Friday adds a polished look to any ensemble. I love them so much, I'm considering grabbing the vest in black because it would totally slay my winter white pants and turtle neck and also the burgundy capelet.

As you can see, my Iman pieces totally take my looks to the next level. The best thing about the collection is that no matter you size there is something for you. All of the clothing pieces come in sizes XS-3X and the shoes (which I don't have any yet) come in sizes 5.5-11 in both medium and wide widths. To view more of Iman's styles, check out www.hsn.com . Also mark your calendars for November 23rd to check out the new Iman Cashmere Collection.  Once you check out the line, I'd love to know your favorite Global Chic pieces. Leave a link in the comment section. Until next time...

Style Me Friday

Happy Friday! I am so glad it's the official start to the weekend! I am really loving this crisp, fall weather and what it is doing for my wardrobe. For the first time I decided to participate in fellow blogger, Eboni Ife' of The Fashionista Next Door 's, Style Me Friday challenge. The item to style around this week was leather pants.

Eboni's look was inspired by Olivia Polermo

After seeing a pic Eboni posted on Instagram earlier this week of the green Just Fab Luxe shoes we both have next to a leopard scarf, I was immediately inspired to create a look around my new leopard & faux leather leggings from Twelve 24 Boutique. When these leggings came in to the boutique I was super excited and knew I had to have them. Of course they all sold out before I could get mine, but thankfully Angela & Melanie reordered them and I was able to get a pair.

One thing a lot of people don't realize is that leopard print is a neutral if styled properly. It works with pretty much any color and if you're really creative it makes for some amazing #PatternPlay. For today's #StyleMeFriday look, I decided to keep it relatively simple, for me anyway :). I paired my leopard leggings with a crisp, white shirt from Talbot's. To ward off the cold, I topped off my look with my new Iman Global Chic Blazer Capelet & added a color pop with my green JustFab Luxe shoes & Banana Republic necklace & ring. To round out the look, I decided to carry my new Isabel & Ruben Toledo x Lane Bryant tote I was gifted from Paul Wilmot Communications on behalf of Lane Bryant.

What do you think? I hope you enjoyed my spin on things & this look inspires you to go forth, be fashionable & make the world your personal runway!

See you on the front row!

Full Figured Fashionista

Happy Sunday! I hope you guys have had an amazing weekend. I am enjoying a leisurely day at home and am totally stoked to have gained an extra hour in the day. Well, that's enough of my idle chatter, let's get down to business. Yesterday I had a blast at Twelve 24 Boutique. Two Saturday's a month I am on hand in the boutique for #SaturdayStyle or #InstaStyle appointments. Yesterday was particularly exciting because some new pieces that I helped choose for the store arrived.

Full Figured Fashionista, better known as F3, is a clothing line dedicated to celebrating the curvy form. I first found out about this line during FFFWeek this summer in NYC. While attending an event at Bloomingdale's, I met one half of the dynamic sister design duo, Anjula Sharma. Once I peeped the fab jumpsuit she was sporting from their line, I became an instant fan!

Anjula Sharma in F3 Jumpsuit

Anjula & Shuchi Sharma are stylists turned designers. After realizing that the industry doesn't always offer the most fashion forward clothing for "Full Figured Fashionistas" they decided to create a collection of fiercely edgy yet wearable clothing. They have truly taken into account the plus size silhouette when designing their clothes. From longer hem-lines on shirts to cover what I like to call low hanging fat (that undesirable low stomach pooch) to stretch in just the right place on dresses, F3 clothes are made to fit and flawlessly flatter real women with real curves. They work closely with their manufactures until each piece is made to their exact specifications.

Last month, Anjula reached out to me because she and Shuchi were going to be in town for a show at the Atlanta Apparel Mart. I had such an amazing time checking out both the current and spring collections. While I was there, I had the opportunity to help Angela, Co-Owner of Twelve 24 Boutique, select some items for the store. Here's a peek at one of the pieces. To see what else we chose, you have to stop by the store to check them out.

Parker Style Remix: Dorothy meets Parker

Happy Halloween!!! I normally don't dress up unless I'm attending a party, but today I couldn't resist. A couple of weeks ago I did a Thursday 3-Way post featuring my fabulous, custom,  blue and white plaid skirt. I usually wouldn't repeat such a bold piece so soon, but while looking at my skirt hanging in the closet, I was inspired to give Dorothy's look from The Wizard of Oz, a Parker Style Remix.

I have seen the "Dorothy" costume recreated several different ways. Almost all of them include a plaid jumper, red sparkly shoes and a wicker basket. I wanted to give "Dorothy"  a more updated, modern twist. My plaid skirt was the focal point of my look. To give it a "Modern Dorothy" spin, I opted for my Coach Signature sneakers with red, burlap ribbon for the laces and my Feed USA tote from Target adorned with the same ribbon. I wore a basic, white oxford shirt from Talbot's and decided to let my Indique Pure Wavy flow free with a red bow on top.

By thinking outside of the box, I created a look that was inspired but very much my own. I hope you enjoyed my modern spin on an American classic. Until next time, Be bold, Be Unique, Be Adventurous, but most of all... Make the world your personal runway!

My Phillip Lim Style

Last month I introduced you to the Phillip Lim  capsule collection for Target. While I was not blown away by most of the collection, I did fall in love with some key pieces. Surprisingly, the only thing that really tickled my fancy were the men's accessories.

One thing that you may not know about me is that I started my fashion career working in menswear.  Though I love the frills and thrills of ladies fashion, nothing intrigues me more than the simplicity of menswear. A man can wear the the same suit but completely transform it each time by simply changing the shirt and the tie. Men also require far fewer shoes and can complete any ensemble by adding an interesting pair of socks.

With all that being said, I wanted to show you guys how I rock menswear. As an on the go fashionista, my looks need to be versatile and transformable from day to play. Recently I paired a simple ASOS body con dress and belt with a denim jacket and my new Phillip Lim for Target high top sneakers, oversized tote and "BOOM" scarf (no longer available).

Because I was running errands, I wanted to keep my look fun yet casual. After all of my running around I switched up my look for date night by removing my sneaks, and replacing them with my Kors Michael Kors pumps. I also ditched my jean jacket in favor of my new gold blazer available at Twelve 24 Boutique and snagged my "BOOM" scarf from my bag to amp up my look and finished things off with my Phillip Lim wallet used as a clutch.

I believe in fashion without boundaries. Just because something was designed with a man in mind doesn't mean you can shake things up a bit and incorporate it into your wardrobe. I am living proof that you can still look like a lady and dress like a man!

"Make the world your personal runway!"

***Fashion Flash***

Join me this Saturday for an afternoon of fashion and philanthropy at the first annual "A Healing Heart Children's Benefit & Fashion Affair". The purpose of this event is to raise awareness on the impact of domestic violence on children. More than 3 million children witness domestic violence in the home each year which can scar them physically, mentally and emotionally. By hosting fashionable, philanthropic events, creators Lavon Morris-Grant & iMinx, LLC hope to procure funding to provide effected children with therapy to handle the violence they have witnessed.

Saturday's event will held at the Georgia International Convention Center and will kick off at 3:30 with a pre-event reception hosted by Mrs. Georgia Globe, Tiffany Marshall. RHOA star Porsha Stewart will also be on hand to lend her star power for this event. After the reception, the fashion showcase will begin. Check out an eclectic mix of fashion and accessories by some of your fave Indie brands like Rude Denim and Desire by Destiny.

For more information and to purchase tickets, visit www.childrenshealingheart.eventbrite.com . I hope to see you there!

Thursday 3-Way

Happy Thursday! I am so glad it's almost the weekend. The weather here in Atlanta has been a dream the past few weeks. For the first time in a long time we have actually had fall weather. Because I put myself on shopping restriction last month, I have been recycling my current wardrobe. I have been dying to wear one of my Yeama by Mamasoe custom skirts again that I wore earlier this summer, but the problem is that it's not the most traditional "Fall" look.

As you already know one of my mantra's is "Fashion Without Boundaries" and I love a challenge, so yesterday I decided to create a couple of different looks with my skirt. I first wore this look to an event in Chicago. I styled it with a neon yellow #TargetStyle tank, orange JCP jacket and silver Shoe Mint Pumps. The look was whimsical and fun. I felt like a modern day Dorothy from the Wizard of Oz.

Yesterday for work, I decided to take my #PatternPlay to another level. I have been chomping at  the bits to wear my new Cole Haan oxfords, so I decided to pair my skirt with my orange, silk JCP blouse and argyle JCP cardigan. I usually don't like to be too matchy-matchy, but to pull the extreme #PatternPlay together, I paired my oxfords with a pair of argyle socks that had a similar pattern to my sweater. I have to give a shout out to my buddy Rev. Richard Flippin who is my current oxford/sock muse. His footwear game is totally sick!

After work, I switched up my look for the Remy Martin Heart of Cognac event at the Biltmore Hotel. I totally nixed my preppy look that I wore to work and added a different color pop. I added a funky ASOS button back shirt, with my vintage green Eloquii jacket, Banana Republic statement necklace and my brand new Luxe by Just Fab green pumps!

Handbag is Iman Platinum for HSN

So, what do you think? One skirt 3 totally different looks. This skirt really is one of my favorite pieces. I hope the inspires you guys to push the envelope and shake things up a bit. Fashion is fun and you should definitely explore all of the possibilities. Until next time...
