Lane Bryant Fashion Style-Off

Hey Guys! A few weeks ago, I got some really great news. I was chosen to attend the Lane Bryant blogger conference at Full Figure Fashion Week in NYC and compete in the Style-Off Challenge! One of the best parts about the challenge is that they gave me a $200 gift card to style my look. Being a budget conscious fashionista, I immediately knew that I would be able to style more than one look with $200 bucks, so I decided to hit www.lanebryant.com to see what kind of damage I could do.

Now, don't get me wrong, I love online shopping, but sometimes you need a little instant gratification. After choosing a few pieces online, I decided to venture into my Lane Bryant store of choice at The Avenue West Cobb. I was immediately greeted by Assistant Manager Clarissa Alexander. After explaining my purpose, and showing Clarissa the items I found online and overall look I wanted to style, I think she was a little concerned.

As you already know, I have an affinity for color blocking and pattern play and the look I had chosen pushed the boundaries of both trends, even for me. Although I don't think she loved my overall vision, she never for one moment discouraged it. Unfortunately, the main components for my look were not available in store, however she was kind enough to honor the sale that was on lanebryant.com and order the missing pieces for me and ring my pieces up from the store.

After only 3 days of waiting, my pieces finally arrived. This was it, I would finally know if the look that I had envisioned would become a reality. After showing the un-styled pieces to my co-workers, friends and family, I was met with the same skepticism that plagued me from day one. As singular pieces, the juxtaposition of the patterns and colors was jarring, however with the proper styling and the right accessories I knew I could pull the look together. Fashion is about taking calculated risks to achieve amazing results and this look did just that. So, without further ado, I present to you, "Urban Jungle Chic".

Clothing: Lane Bryant, Clutch: Shoe Dazzle, Shoes: Shoe Mint, Necklace & Ring: Banana Republic (no longer available) Watch: Michael Kors, Sunglasses: Prada

What do you think??? I paired the Lane Collection Scuba Ankle Pants in bright chartruse with a 3/4 Sleeve Perfect Shirt in humus and topped it all off with the Floral Sateen Jacket! The thing I love most about the look is that it works for day or play and the combination of colors and patterns can make this look also transition in to fall. In the next day or so, you will be able to vote on looks styled by myself and several other fabulous bloggers on Facebook. The winner will be revealed at the blogger conference during FFFWeek. I would love your votes and I will keep you posted with the deets. I would like to give a special thank you to Lane Bryant for their vote of confidence in me as well as to the team at Lane Bryant at The Avenue West Cobb for being so AWESOME!

#OOTD Day to Play

There's nothing I love more than taking an outfit from day to play. Because I live about 45 minutes outside of the city, I always need a change of clothes if I'm planning to go out. When I don't feel like dragging around a whole new outfit, I keep the base look and switch up the accessories. A couple of weeks ago, I received my polka dot ASOS peplum from Gwynnie Bee. Since today is casual Friday, I decided to pair it with my new denim jeggings c/o Lane Bryant, 1901 Maui driving shoes from Nordstrom (color no longer available) and a jute shopping tote from Marshall's.

Thankfully I was able to leave work early today. I decided to amp up my ensemble by just switching up the accessories. I added my FAVE yellow blazer from Talbot's (no longer available), mint green pumps from Sole Society, and my Henri Bendel laptop sleeve as an oversized clutch (no longer available). By changing up those elements, I transformed my cutesy casual look into city chic! I hope you're inspired to transform your look from day to play!

Pattern Play: Flowers and Stripes

I'm sure you've guessed by now that I march to the beat of a different style drummer. I love the idea of mixing bold, unrelated patterns together and creating a quirky, unexpected look that is all my own. A few days ago, I created an outrageous "Hello Spring" combo. I paired a structured, striped jacket from Talbot's with a flirty, floral Duro Olowu for JCP skirt.

I will be the first to admit, it was a lot of look, but I was determined to "own" it! The patterns were completely unrelated, however they told a similar color story.  To ground the 2 bold patterns, I incorporated a bold, orange Worthington Collection silk blouse from JCP. Of course, the devil is in the details, so I added my favorite lion head necklace from Twelve 24 Boutique, Tom Ford sunglasses, Talbot's clutch and ShoeMint pumps. Although I had a lot going on, somehow it all came together to make a Perfectly Parker look. What do you think? Are you adventurous enough to try a little #patternplay?
